THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS AND IT'S INTENDED TO TALK ABOUT THEM. IF YOU HAVENT READ THE NOVEL WE ADVISE YOU TO LEAVE AND COME BACK ONCE YOU'RE DONE READING!!

The Idea of this entry is to give the team thoughts about the product, in two parts, the first one in a technical aspect intended for other aspiring translators or people interested in that side of translation! After that is spoiler talk, just the team general feelings about the product.

Translator Side

The last novel to transalte (for now) of D10RAMA, this time on a different engine as it was their first novel, they chose to use Ren'Py which, in the English visual novel community, is quite popular. Script was much simpler and is one more program that I learn to use !

In terms of the translation, I hope it is noticeable, I started to use a little more adaptation. At some point translating words and phrases can sometimes sound strange or bland and even though it expresses the words, it does not express the feelings of the author or the characters, in these cases it is important to adapt certain things so that both are well conveyed.

In my previous transalations I adapted things but I feel that sometimes I left things that could be adapted in a better way just to not change things to much, maybe fearing deviating too much, and I feel, that's fine. At the end of the day every project I complete gives me more experience and helps me create my own style.

One thing that happened in both languages in this translation was that Lily, in the original script is confused with some complex Japanese words, but in theory they are quite easy. 水筒 which literally means water bottle, but as she uses her second readings Lily doesn't manage to decipher in a conversation without seeing the kanji(It has also happened to me...). But in English I had to adapt a little bit and use a word that wasn't literal water bottle. because it would look something like this:

- What is that?

-This? A water bottle.

- Water bottle?

- Yes, a bottle of water.

- Ah!

That really sounds quite illogical in English so I used a different word. This is a small example of adaptation and there are many more that change the words a little bit so that the actions of the characters and their feelings are better represented between languages.

So, that's the end of D10RAMA products (for now), but we keep on translating, this time I was able to get the permissions to translate another 4 or 5 novels from another Japanese circle, which I will announce soon!

Thoughts Side

We have to remember that this is the first product of D10RAMA, the product that started everything that we have translated and seen in the past months around here, their products as I had said in previous novels have always been around the theme of finding ourselves in various ways, that and to find our place in this world. This novel being their first project, like all the novels shows the passion they had for writing and sharing their work. And I hope, in the future we will see what else they have for us.

Now I want you to tell me everything! If you had an issue with my translation, your feelings about the novel or anything else! I have anonymous comments here, you can go wild!(But maybe not too wild…)
