Sun In The Shade

THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS AND IT'S INTENDED TO TALK ABOUT THEM. IF YOU HAVENT READ THE NOVEL WE ADVISE YOU TO LEAVE AND COME BACK ONCE YOU'RE DONE READING!!

The Idea of this entry is to give the team thoughts about the product, in two parts, the first one in a technical aspect intended for other aspiring translators or people interested in that side of translation! After that is spoiler talk, just the team general feelings about the product.

Translator Side

This one was interesting, a lot of vocabulary you normally don't use a lot of it piano related, and new things to discover. In japanese they have 3 phases for the tuning of a piano, but in other parts of the world, and specifically on English 2 of the kanjis they use translate exactly the same to tuning, so I tried changing that, I think it felt clear for someone who knows nothing about tuning, which includes me.

At the beginning it was VITAL to keep the sense of plurality in pronouns, in japanese normally a theres no plurality or singularity in certain words, so they didn't had that issue. But when you're trying to keep the mystery of how many people the teacher or the students are referring to i had to find a way to be natural about it so it wasn't that obvious! hopefully you had that GASP moment, if that happened, my job was done.

It was the first time I used small tl notes (These things). In japanese sometimes they use furigana to have this cool double meaning in words where a character says a thing and on top there's a different meaning . You really can't do that normally here so it was difficult, also Himari's name throughout the story in japanese is written in katakana, at the end they reveal the kanjis which contains the sun kanji, so that's the reason for those little notes at the final confrontation.

Overall happy with the final product, but the piano parts were rough, if you know about piano and have ideas to make it a little cleaner send me an email!

Thoughts Side

You are probably wondering about THAT text box, if you followed my advice on the last TT, this shouldn't change your feelings, at the end it still happened and everything you felt is still valid, no matter the conclusion.(If you don't understand that's fine!)

ANYWAYS! This story was really nice! Thinking about life a little, I agree with the novel, the fastest way to start is to do it whenever you feel like it, Age? Experience? DOSEN'T MATTER! Start! you'll be bad at the beginning BUT, if you have fun, if you have passion for it, KEEP MOVING! It made me realize I really like doing this

The other big thing about the novel, is about letting go, and to face things properly, this one will differ from person to person… For me, something else in life made me face myself and, at the end of that, I got the idea of creating this! So… personally, I feel it will give you an idea of what's important in your life, and you can move forward with that in your mind
